Journal Policy
Pakistan Armed Forces Medical Journal (PAFMJ) to publish articles with content pertaining to different fields of biomedical sciences, providing sufficient contribution to medical knowledge. The journal is presently being published bimonthly. PAFMJ is nationally recognized by the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PM&DC), the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Pakistan (CPSP), and the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan. It is included in the “Y” category of HEC journals. The articles include new experimental methods of medical importance; new interpretation of existing results or data pertaining to clinical problems and epidemiological work giving substantial scientific information pertaining to biomedical sciences. All such articles aim for development of medical concepts contributing to the diverse body of existing medical literature.
EDITORIAL FREEDOM
Chief Editor has full authority over the editorial content of the journal. There is no interference in the evaluation; selection or editing of individual articles either directly or by creating an environment that strongly influences decisions.
EDITORIAL OFFICE
The editorial office has been established at Army Medical College, Rawalpindi, Pakistan.
THE EDITORIAL BOARD
The members of the editorial board are appointed keeping in view their professional competence in different fields of biomedical sciences. In addition to advisors/specialists from Armed Forces, competent professionals from civil sector as well as from foreign countries are included with approval of the senior members of the editorial advisory board.
EDITORIAL COMMITTEE
The editorial committee consists of Chief editor, Editor, Associate editor, Joint editor(s), Assistant editor(s) and National and International Editorial Board members. The local members meet at least once a month to expedite the business of the journal. The editorial committee follows the guidelines provided by International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) in uniform requirements for manuscripts submitted to biomedical journals: which can be downloaded fromhttp://www.icmje.org/.
Publication Frequency
Effective 01 July 2026, PAFMJ shall be published monthly, comprising a total of twelve (12) regular issues per calendar year, according to the following schedule:
In addition to the regular monthly issues, Supplementary Issues will be published as and when required.
It is notified for the information of all authors, reviewers, Editorial Board members, readers, indexing agencies, and affiliated institutions that the publication schedule of the Pakistan Armed Forces Medical Journal (PAFMJ) has been revised with immediate effect.
Effective 01 July 2026, PAFMJ shall be published monthly, comprising a total of twelve (12) regular issues per calendar year.
We wish to inform you that, in accordance with the revised publication standards of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PM&DC), each regular issue of the journal is restricted to a maximum of 30 published articles. Although PAFMJ has adopted a monthly publication schedule comprising twelve regular issues per year (six print and six online-only issues), the increasing number of high-quality submissions may still result in a waiting period between manuscript acceptance and publication.
If any of the authors require publication within a specific timeframe to meet academic, professional, training, promotion, or examination requirements, you may wish to consider withdrawing your manuscript and submitting it to another suitable journal to avoid any inconvenience.
